October 7, 1957 ~ June 26, 2023 (age 65) 65 Years Old

Obituary

Mary Jo Harris, most recently of Cloverdale, Indiana passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2023. She was born on October 7th, 1957, in Geneva, Il. to the late Paul J. and Joanne (nee Christiansen) Yaeger. Beloved wife of Larry Harris and devoted, loving mother of Adam Harris. She is survived by her brother, Mark Yaeger, and many brother and sister in-laws.  Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jo graduated from Glenbard West High School and attended Illinois State University, where she was A member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was an amazing life-long friend to many she met at Glenbard West and ISU.

Mary Jo’s parents were both teachers in the Glen Ellyn schools and this allowed for long summer family vacations, especially to Pensacola, Florida. She acquired her love of beaches and seashells on these trips.  When her parents retired to Waupaca, Wisconsin and opened an antiques shop, Mary Jo developed a passion to acquire and decorate with antique treasures of her own.  She and her mother, Jo, were original “Fanilows” and attended an incredible number of Barry Manilow concerts together. Mary Jo and Larry explored beaches in the Outer Banks, and she loved showing Adam the “stripedy” lighthouses along the way. The family is very grateful to the entire staff at Summerfield Health Care Center for the compassionate care provided to Mary Jo during the last thirteen months as she faced the challenges of Huntington’s Disease. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mary Jo’s memory to endhd.org, or to Summerfield Health Care Center 34 S. Main Street Cloverdale, IN. 46120. A Celebration of Life will be held in fall in Carol Stream, Il., near the home Mary Jo lovingly shared with Larry and Adam.
