Leland D. McCammon

Leland D. McCammon, age 85 of Cloverdale went to be with the Lord May 3rd, 2022.

He was born January 30th, 1937 to the late Elbert and Mabelle (Wilber) McCammon.

Leland married his wife of 51 years Jo Ann (Brown) McCammon July 5th, 1970 in Columbus, IN and she survives.

Leland graduated from Carlisle High School in 1955. After high school he went on to Indiana State where he graduated with a Master’s in Education. He taught elementary school at Sandborn and Cannelton then was the Elementary Principal at Taylorsville for 5 years. He became the Principal at Cloverdale Elementary in 1974 where he stayed for 20 years. He retired from education in 1995. He was a serious but fair man with a sly sense of humor. He was a deacon, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and took attendance at the Cloverdale Church of Christ. Leland enjoyed traveling, shopping, and eating out at Culver’s, spending time with his grandkids and attending their sporting events.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Brian McCammon and his wife Cara; grandchildren Bryce and Kendyl; brother Chester McCammon (Donna).

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Norman L. McCammon.

Funeral services for Leland will be at 12:00 noon Friday May 6th, 2022 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service time of Noon Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be made at www.whitakerfuneralhome.net
