John Raymond Short

John Raymond Short, age 71 of Poland, went to be with the Lord January 12th, 2020. He was born November 21st, 1948 in Indianapolis to the late Clarence and Ruby (Grimes)Short.  He married Genevieve (Carter)Short in 1971 and she survives.  He was an avid fisherman, and a member of the Cataract Yacht Club.  He was a gentle soul, and the world lost a good man but Heaven gained a good man.  He was preceded in death by his sister Peggy Blake and brother Ronnie Short.  His sisters Irene Newman and Virginia Woodbury survive.

In addition to his wife and siblings he is survived by several brother in-laws who he was very fond of and felt as if they were his own brothers.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he was always happy to visit with. In his younger years he also played Santa Claus every Christmas not only for family but also community functions.  He was also known for his fish frying abilities.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16th, 2019 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 17th, at 11:00am with internment to follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.  Condolences may be made at www.whitakerfuneralhome.net.
