Rose Nevajean Alex, 91, of Bedford, formerly of West Lafayette, Bloomington and Naples, Florida, passed way on November 3, 2009 in the Yellow Rose Hospice Unit at Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. She was born on December 2, 1917 at Switz City, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Ella Ethel [Jackson] Conklin.
She married Frank Alex on August 17, 1937 and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2008. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bedford Christian Church. Neva was a graduate of Ben Davis High School.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be on Friday, November 6, 2009, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Clayton Cemetery.
Known best for her fabulous culinary skills, she loved spending time with her family, sharing laughter and many good meals. Neva had many hobbies, just one of which was crossword puzzles. She was so proficient; she always did them in ink. Loved by her large family and many friends, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Kellams and husband Jack, Bedford, Judith Ertl and husband Tom, Carmel and Janie Lower and husband Norman, Tampa, FL; sisters, June Dunn and husband Paul, Frankfort, Mary Lou Bowerman and husband Harold, Frankfort and Sandra Ceder and husband Robert, Sheboygan, WI; brother, Charles “Bud” Conklin and wife Jeanette, Frankfort, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters, Anne Willoughby and Beulah Willoughby; brothers, Billie Conklin and David Conklin.
