Sharon Lisette Jones, 76, of Cloverdale, Indiana, passed away at her home on February 26, 2016. She was born in Portchester, New York, on January 10, 1940. She is the daughter of the late James L. Sparks and Catherine R. [Egan] Sparks. She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Arthur J. Jones. They were married on October 25, 1958, at St. Joseph Church in South Norwalk, Connecticut.
She is also survived by her two daughters: Eileen M. Jeffries, husband Jonathan C. Jeffries, of Cloverdale, IN; and Catherine L. Melvin, husband Bryan L. Melvin, of Bloomington, IN. Nana adored and spent a great deal of time with all of her grandchildren: Lucas J. Jeffries (23); Sydney L. (13) and Molly L. (9) Melvin. Her brother and his wife, James and Janet Sparks, reside in Milford, Connecticut.
Sharon loved the water, was a lifelong avid swimmer, and co-piloted many vessels including houseboats, ski boats, sailboats, and ocean going trawlers. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the Great Lakes, East Coast, Florida, the Gulf, and Kentucky Lake.
She was a voracious reader, loved feeding the birds, spending time with her family, enjoyed flower gardening, and was the well organized architect of delightful family holidays. She was a great listener and always had good advice, offered a shoulder or laugh whenever needed for her family and friends. She retired as the Manager of the Information Technology Department for HiTek Lighting, after 30 entertaining and productive years. In 1958 she worked as a key punch operator and progressed through her career to programming administrative and manufacturing systems in the COBAL language. Many of her programs are still in use to this day. Sharon and Art are members of St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle, IN.
Visitation will be held on March 18th, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, IN. Condolences may be sent to the family at: cds@whitakerfuneralhome.net
