Millard Mack Sills, Jr., 86. Berkley, MI, went into the arms of Jesus and to be with Betty and his many friends before him on Friday, March 20, 2015. He was born with an unmatched zest for life on April 14, 1928 to Millard, Sr. and Lois Sills in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mack was raised in Indianapolis and worked in a bakery as a youth developing a passion for cooking. At the age of 15, Mack joined the US Army and served during WWII for three years. He met his first love of his life, Betty Frances Blair, during a service leave in 1944 and married her in 1946. With her, he had three children to whom he was the most wonderful father. He worked for a tool shop and a railroad company for a few years before working at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation (now Allegheny Technologies). He started as a warehouseman working his way up to Warehouse Supervisor. He retired in 1992 after more than 30 years in the steel industry to spend more time with his ailing wife. After a long struggle, Betty passed away in 1998.
A few years later, Mack met Nancy Kreager, whom he called the second love of his life. They married in September of 2004 at the Berkley Community Church. Through Nancy and the church, Mack became c born again Christian and accepted God as his Savior. Through his faith he worked on becoming a better man, husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all those who shared in his life.
He is survived by his second wife, Nancy, his children, Lynn Leach of Clawson, M. Mack Sills, III and his wife, Hayward, CA and Linda K. Redwood and husband Randy of Ferndale, his sister, Virginia Edison, Indianapolis, his grandchildren, Robin Danielle Leach and Brandon Mack Sills. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty, parents and grandson, Danny Ray Leach, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2015 at 3:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2015 from 2:00 PM until service time. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
