Pickens, 90, Cloverdale, passed away on March 23, 2009, at his residence. He was born in Janesville, WI on Oct. 25, 1919 and was the son of the late Fay Dennis and Jessie May [Childs] Pickens. He was a member of Hurst-Collins Post 281, American Legion and VFW # 1550, Jesse Lee Post and was retired from General Motors. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy as a bomber pilot. He is survived by his caregivers, June and Joe VanZandt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marietta Pickens and brother, Thad Pickens. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, with visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Interment will be in Emeral Grove Cemetery, Avalon, WI.
