Thelma R. Swope, 74, Mooresville, formerly of Cloverdale, passed away on July 13, 2010 at her residence. She was born at Cloverdale on August 27, 1935 and was the daughter of the late George Wesley and Divona [Parks] Query.
She was married to Jack E. Swope in 1953 and he survives. The Swope’s were co-owners and operators of the Clover Queen Drive-In for 20 years, and then the Swope Realty and Auction Company, where she was a Real Estate Broker, for another 20 years, retiring in 1996. Thelma was past president of the Putnam County Board of Realtors and Cloverdale Business Association. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hurst-Collins Post # 281, Cloverdale.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters, Joyce Ellen Champ and husband Trent, Brownsburg and Jacki E. Secrest and husband Ron, Quincy, her sisters, Phyllis Peak, Carole Query, Vicki Donavan and Emma Sue Morejon, her brothers Thurman Query and Lloyd Query, her grandchildren: Taylor Marr Neal and husband Patrick, Sonnet Marr and husband Daniel, Jake Secrest and fiancé’ Madison Rachelle Smith, Lee Secrest and May Secrest, and her great-grandchildren, Rylegh Secrest and Jack Swope Marr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale with Bret Miller officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, July 23, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce Evelyn Jones and Coralie Lester and her brother Duane Query.
