Smith, 101, Cloverdale, passed away on May 13, 2010 at The Mill Pond Health Campus, Greencastle. She was born on December 7, 1908 in Owen County, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Curry B. and Emma [Twomey] Hart. She was married to Harold H. “Banty” Smith, Sr. and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the former Quincy Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, farmer and co-owner of Smith Implement and the Cloverdale Hardware and Lumber Company. She is survived by her children, LaVaughn Patten, Cloverdale, Ellen and Bill Davies, Cloverdale, Max and Anita Smith, Cloverdale, Harold “Red” and Maxine Smith, Quincy, Delmas Joe and Rita Smith, Cloverdale and Michael L. and Marsha Smith, Gosport, daughter-in-law, Annabeth Smith, Cloverdale, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Mannan Cemetery. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Elvin Boyd “Epp” Smith, granddaughter, Jennifer Smith, grandson, Stanley Smith, great-grandson Michael Wayne Dowell, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
